Before you start you need the following:

Instructions

  1. SD cards can be purchased from any electronics/camera shops or through a vatiety of webshops online. The recommended size 8GB or higher and you should use "Class 4" and above.
  2. If your computer doesn’t have a built-in SD reader, then get an external USB one at the same time.
  3. To get WBFS Manager v4.0, visit http://www.wiikey.cn/en/members/ - If you are not a member then choose Register now – free and fill in the details. You are NOT forced to complete the survey but it helps us to have the information for future projects.
  4. Once logged in, follow the steps shown below, starting with "WBFS Manager":

  5. Install WBFS manager on your computer. As the file is compressed with .7z you can use WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract it.
  6. Once it is extracted, go to the folder wbfsmanager_4_0 and double click setup then follow the instructions until you reach the close button.
  7. Start WBFS Manager 4.0 (you should have an icon for it on your Desktop)
  8. The first time you start up of WBFS Manager, it will appear like this:

  9. To format your SD card. Insert it into your SD reader and then go to Windows Explorer and you should see something similar to below. Before using WBFS Manager, format the SD card with your computer system:
  10. Right click on the SD card icon and choose Format. Then use the settings shown below (if you are using XP). For Vista or Windows 7 please choose FAT for File system. In this sample, the SD Card is 480 MB in size, but yours will probably be different.

  11. Use of WBFS:

Click 4 to refresh the drive list, and select your SD card drive with 1. Choose the SD drive (in this case E). Then click on 3 followed by "Yes". Once this is completed, you can load an ISO file. Click 2 and then the "Browse" button (9) will be highlighted. Browse to the area where you have saved your ISO file.

Once you see the game in the list (as below) this means that it has been loaded into WBFS but not to the SD. Click "Add to Drive" (7) to write it to SD card and wait.

If sucessful, the following confirmation will appear:

You can now close WBFS Manager
  12. Vista and Windows 7 users, click on the small arrow icon and then on the option as illustrated:

    Windows XP users:
  13. Physically remove your SD card and go to your Wii.
  14. Insert the SD card into the Wiikey Fusion SD Card Reader, start your Wii, the Game Cube logo (GC) will appear in the disc channel. Choose it and click start.
  15. The update plus any game(s) on your SD card will appear in a list:
  16. If you have a GC JoyPad, you can use it to select the game you want to play above. Otherwise, quickly press the reset button on the front of your Wii to move through the list and then press-and-hold the reset button to select the update. Your Wii will reset and the update will begin as soon as you run the GC 'game' in the game channel:
  17. Once the update is complete go back to the Wiikey Fusion menu and you will see that the SW Version number at the  top right corner has been updated.
